Arrrr! A Pirate Birthday Card

Hi Everyone! We had a crazy busy birthday weekend. One party had a pirate theme so I did my best to pull together a pirate card with the stamps I had on hand. Yep, no pirate stamps in my collection. ;)

I was inspired by Elena's card HERE. Isn't she awesome? It was a nice jumping off point since I didn't have much time to create this card.
I combined stamps from two of THE BEST stamp companies. Lawn Fawn and Paper Smooches. :) From Lawn Fawn I used Summertime Charm (stamps and die), Bannerific, Interlocking Backdrops, So Much to Say and Sally's ABCs. From Paper Smooches I used their new set Wicked Nauticool.

A few fun details:
- I stamped the herringbone background stamp from Interlocking Backdrops randomly on the black sail in white and grey to create a weathered look.
- I tucked three sequins behind the boat to look like stolen treasure. Arrr Matey!

Ellen Hutson & Avery Elle Blog Hop!

Hi Everyone! I'm SO excited for today's blog hop! This collaboration set is amazing and I can't wait to see how all of the talented designers used it today and how YOU will use it! To create my card I started by stamping, die cutting and coloring several of the images from Peek a Boo Pals Camp Wanna Stamp (love that name!). It's available HERE with stamps and dies or HERE with just stamps.  Next, I blended and splashed ink on a piece of cardstock to create the background. Then, I stamped the lightening bugs and added their glow, along with coloring their wings white. TIP: I used a Q-Tip to add just a small amount of Distress Oxide to make the bugs glow.  Finally, I added the sentiment and adhered everything to a card base. This set is amazing and it's PACKED full of images! There are still more images that I can't wait to stamp. Check out the set... Next up is Heather Campbell . She is SO talented, I'm sure you'll love what she created. Finally, it wou

Now that I'm counting, my card uses 4 new Mama Elephant stamp sets ! This card all started with the sentiment. My kids are always buzzing around the house singing and one of their favorite is Everything is Awesome (Lego Movie anyone?). :) I started with a faint pencil line to create AWESOME from the new Block Party Letters . I colored them in with Copics and then did some creative masking and stamping from Happy Everything to add the beginning of the sentiment. Next I stamped the penguin and hat (from the new Artic Penguins ), colored them and die cut them for a perfect cut. The soft, grey striped background was created using the new Boutique Borders . All stamps and dies can be purchased NOW at the Mama Elephant store HERE . Next up? The very talented JJ Bolton !
