Oh Christmas Tree

Hi Everyone! I've had a busy couple days getting the house all decked out for Christmas. The kids and I decorated the tree with ornaments today. There is something so magical about Christmas trees. I'm hoping to make some crafty garland with the kids this year to keep their little hands busy while they wait for Christmas. :)  My card today features the Wherever You Are stamp by Penny Black. Its so elegant with the script, text and graphic elements. I inked up the stamp twice with two shades of green ink. I used a circle punch to cut out and highlight the sundial portion of the stamp and added glitter to the tree. I used my favorite jewel toned cardstock and a few embellishments to compliment the stamped image. Hope you are having a great day!

Ginger Joy Tag

Hi Everyone! I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving! This treat bag was featured on the Penny Black blog yesterday. I absolutely adore the Ginger Joy stamp by Penny Black. Its so simple, so cute, so easy to customize, embellish and use again and again. Plus its a cling stamp so its easy to store (bonus!). First I stamped the gingerbread man on kraft cardstock. I added a few brown shades of distress ink to his body for a "fresh out of the oven" look. The hands and feet were pieced with fabric. I love the extra interest and texture that fabric adds. You will see me use it again. ;) The berries are clear gems colored with permanent marker. Finally, I mounted him on a simple tag and added a few simple borders and embellishments. Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Mimi's Mail

Hi Everyone! I created today's card with holiday thank you cards in mind. I love this image of Mimi putting a letter in the mailbox. I colored the image with Copics and added Mimi in as a second layer to add a little bit of dimension. The snowflakes were filled in with Stickles and I added Glossy Accents to the envelope. TIP: When I find an area that is hard to color with Copics because it is too small (like the edges of the bird's hat) I like to stop and switch to a newly sharpened colored pencil in a matching color. Thanks for stopping by today! Stamps: Penny Black Royal Greeting

Decorated Filigree Tree

Hi Everyone! I forgot to share this card that I made a few weeks ago. It features the Filigree Tree from Penny Black. I used black ink to stamp the tree but stamped it once before stamping this image. I love the lighter grey color it created. I accesorized the tree with a few buttons and glittery brads. I often cut off the back of the brad and just use the top when embelishing a card. I don't like the extra bulk and just having to top allows me to slide the brad around to find a perfect spot for it. I finised the card off with a simple twine bow and a classic sentiment. Have a great day!

Inside Out

Hi Everyone! Today on the Penny Black blog all of the designers are are sharing cards that are finished on the outside AND the inside. I often don't finished my cards on the inside expect during the holidays. Its fun to throw in a longer sentiment or add a giftcard holder or both. I started the outside of the card with a fun Penny Black Mimi stamp layered on a simple scene that was cut out with Nestabilities Labels 8. I added a cork scalloped border, buttons, string and machine stitching to add a little bit of fun and interest. On the inside I repeated the same Labels 8 die cut and added a Christmas sentiment. I thought it would be fun to tuck in a gift card. To ensure a perfect snug fit I placed the card on the back of the label using it as a guide to lay down my tape. I left about a 1/4 inch between the card and the tape on each side so it would easily move in and out but wouldn't fall out. I plan on making a similar card with THIS stamp and using them for ...

No Peeking David

I've been excited to share this card for a couple of days. I created this card for my brother's birthday and needed to give it a few days head start in the mail. :) My brother moved away to NYC several years back (sniff, sniff) so I was excited to incorporate the city stamp in to the scene. The critter was colored using Distress inks (one of my new favorite techniques) and the city scape was shaded using Copics. When ever I make a card for a guy, color and texture are always very important. The torn cork, fall colors and loose string on the button added just the touch I needed. Thanks for stopping by today! Rooooar Lion Card

Hi Everyone! When deciding on an image to use for a baby boy card I didn't hesitate to pick up my Roar stamp by Penny Black. He is so darn cute! I colored him with Copics and added Glossy Accents to his eyes. I was in a hurry so this card was finished without a sentiment. Like the last baby card I shared, this is also a mini size (3.5" X 4.5"). I love to add these to the top of a gift without an envelope. It adds a fun touch to the packaging and also saves time searching for the perfect size envelope. Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

Catalog Christmas Cards

Hi Everyone! Today I want to share a few cards I made way back in July for Penny Black's Christmas catalog. I had a lot of fun creating this first card. I love traditional Christmas colors and the snow globe stamp is one of my favorites from the catalog. I paper pieced this image and used a brown colored pencil to add some light shading to the bear. Glossy Accents were used on the bird, hat and snow cliff. *Hi to all my readers at D&S in NYC! :)* Thanks for stopping by! Have a good day!

Sweet Pea Baby Girl

Hi Everyone! Its nice to take a break from the holiday card buzz every once in awhile. Its amazing what kind of stampin' mojo comes your way if you just take a little break from the norm. :) Today I created a mini card for a friend who just had a sweet little baby girl. When my daughter Rachel was born my friend gave me the cutest handmade flower headbands and clips. So when thinking about the card for her little one I decided to dress up the bunny  with a big flower of her own. :) Hope you have a great day!
