An Owl Card

Hey Everyone! Its no secret that I love owls. One of the many great things about owls are that they are a perfect image for the oh-so-difficult cards for guys. I think they have the potential to be quite manly. :) For example check out this card I put together.

One of my favorite tricks to coloring images quickly is to start with a colored piece of paper or one that has a slight pattern (like the owl) and just do the shading with a slightly darker colored pencil. Its colored in no time!

I also cut out the branch free hand. Its something similar to what Jennifer McGuire did a while back. I found that the it actually looked better the messier my cutting was! How great is that? The little bumps and imperfections make it look more realistic.

Cute card, Ashley! And thanks for putting the thought into my head to use owls for masculine cards - you're right! I usually struggle with them, and now I'll have another option.

Mama Elephant: November Stampede!

Welcome to the Mama Elephant Release Design Team blog hop! You should have arrived here from Geralyn's blog .  The newest release is now live and available for purchase in their store HERE ! The release is another knock out hit! Each stamp set is amazing! Today I'm featuring Cross My Heart and I sneaked in a few of the other sets too! ;) I started my card by die cutting the stitched index card . Then I cut out the window  which is designed to open. (cool, right?) I wanted a frame for my window so I die cut the window again and trimmed the side before adhering it to my index base. Then I backed my window with some cloud patterned paper for my outside sky. Next I stamped and die cut the cats from Purrfect Pair. I have had SO much fun with these cats. After adhering to cats to the window sill, I stamped and fussy cut the heart balloon. I tied some black floss around the balloon and adhere it to the kitten's paw. Finally, I stamped my sentiment.
